What is Season Zero?
Season Zero, titled Dawn and Dusk, is the first official season under ESO’s new quarterly rollout model. Instead of one large annual Chapter drop, content will now be introduced in stages across a defined season.
This new structure allows systems, events, and progression updates to roll out over time rather than all at once. Season Zero sets the tone for how ESO plans to handle content releases throughout 2026 and beyond.
Tamriel Tomes and Trade Bars
Tamriel Tomes launches with Update 49 on March 9 and functions as ESO’s version of a battle pass. Players complete weekly and seasonal challenges to earn Tome Points and unlock rewards.
There will be three options available:
Free Tamriel Tome
Premium Tamriel Tome
Premium + Bonuses Tamriel Tome
The paid tiers are completely optional, and all rewards can be reviewed before purchasing. Rewards include materials, research items, cosmetics, seals, and Trade Bars.
Trade Bars are a new currency earned through Tamriel Tomes and other in-game activities. They can be spent at the Gold Coast Bazaar on both new and returning collectibles.
Trade Bars will replace Event Tickets at a rate of 100 Trade Bars per 1 Event Ticket, with values adjusted to remain equivalent to what tickets previously offered.
Gold Coast Bazaar

The Gold Coast Bazaar opens March 25, 2026. This new in-game store allows players to spend Trade Bars on past rewards and new collectibles.
Up to 9,000 Trade Bars can be earned from the free Tamriel Tome, with additional amounts available through paid tiers and gameplay activities.
Some items will be available at launch on March 25, but the majority, around 100 collectibles, arrive with the full seasonal release on April 2. Certain rewards will rotate, while others remain permanently available.
The Night Market Event (April 29 – June 17)

The Night Market runs from April 29 through June 17 and is designed for players looking for a greater challenge than standard overland content.
This limited-time zone in Fargrave combines open-world exploration, public events, puzzles, layered mechanics, roaming bosses, and a full 12-player Trial.
Players will pledge allegiance to one of three rival factions: The Glittering Goad, The Ruckus, or The Thousand Eyes. Each faction offers its own progression path and reward structure.
Difficulty is noticeably higher than normal overworld zones and is built primarily for group play, though confident players may attempt portions solo.
To begin, pick up the free quest “Those Who Would Rule” from the Crown Store and travel using the Starlit Plaza Wayshrine on the Fargrave map. Rewards include collectibles, armor styles, achievements, and even a free player home.
Mid-Season Gameplay Additions
Arriving in late May or June, two optional systems will expand the season further.
The Challenge Difficulty system allows players to toggle a harder version of overland content for a more demanding open-world experience.
The Vengeance PvP progression system introduces structured advancement within designated campaigns, offering ranks and rewards tied to participation and performance.
Both additions are aimed at experienced players who want deeper engagement as the season continues.
What Season Zero Signals for 2026
Season Zero marks a shift in how ESO delivers content. Instead of one major Chapter defining the year, 2026 moves toward a staggered seasonal rollout with updates spread across multiple dates.
There is less emphasis on a single expansion and more focus on engagement systems, recurring events, and layered progression throughout the year.
Season Zero concludes on July 8, but it clearly sets the direction for a more consistent and evolving content model moving forward.
